12 Weeks to Homeownership – Week 9
Communicating with Your Lender and Agent

First, I want to say, congratulations! You’ve made it to week 9 and you’re on the home stretch now!

Some of you may have gone into contact earlier than others and if you didn’t have any exceptions, you may already be in closing – that’s fantastic!

But by design, we have a few extra weeks in this series because the usual time to find a home is more than 6 weeks. It can be even longer in an environment where the inventory available is experiencing a shortage.

The right home may take a while to find, so don’t despair! It WILL happen!

This week, I want to talk mostly about the importance of communication.

Each week throughout the shopping process, your lender should have been calling or emailing you (or both) to check in with you to see how it’s going.

Your realtor is probably in touch almost daily – they should be!

There are so many moving parts in this process that are time-sensitive, so it is extremely important to have good communication.

Don’t be shy about calling them or letting them know the best time of day to talk to you. If an email is all you need to feel confident, then they are more than happy to limit their check-ins to email.

Now, if you are in escrow and you are waiting on inspections and appraisals, use this time to get other parts of the move organized and planned.

Stay available to your experts – you never know what may come up in the process or what additional information may be needed.

Remember, the clock is ticking down more quickly now so communication is imperative.

Be positive! I’ll see you in week 10!
